BRANCH BULLETIN AND SCRAPBOOK ENTRY RULES

1: The competition shall be open to all Branches & Ladies Auxiliaries in their submission of:

A
Bulletins or Newsletters regardless of their size
B
Scrapbooks

2: Entries shall be judged by a committee appointed for this purpose by the Provincial Public Relations Committee and their decision shall be final.

3. Entries in the first (5) classifications shall be classified in accordance with their TOTAL strength as of December 31st, of the preceding year and judged accordingly. The membership totals shall be taken from the membership print out issued by Dominion Command.

4. A plaque shall be awarded to the Branch/Ladies Auxiliary publishing the best bulletin in each classification and the scrapbook competition.

Class "B" McIntyre Hood Award

Class "C" Leo Cunningham Memorial Award

Class "D" Ladies Auxiliary Award

Class "E" Ontario Command Award

Scrapebook Class "A" to "E".

5. The Len Taylor Memorial Trophy and Keeper Plaque shall be awarded to the branch or Ladies Auxiliary publishing the best bulletin among all entries.

6. The one (1) runner-up in each category of the bulletin contest shall be awarded a general excellence plaque.

7. A general excellence plaque to be awarded to the winners in the Scrapbook Contest at Provincial level, 5 classes "A" to "E".

8. Three (3) different bulletins only, issued by a Branch or Ladies Auxiliary during the fiscial year shall be submitted to the District Public Relations Chairman. The judging of bulletins at District level shall be undertaken by the Public Relations Chairman and his/her committee from another District.The Chairman will select the best entries in each classification and forward same to the Provincial Chairman no later than JULY 31TH of each year.

10. Bulletin entries shall be marked with the Branch/Ladies Auxiliary Name, Number, address. Editior's Name, Classification, etc. and addressed to the District Public Relations Chairman with the notation "BULLETIN ENTRY, CLASS "A", "B", "C", "D", or "E", no later than JUNE 15TH of each year

 

GUIDELINES FOR JUDGING BULLETINS:

Due consideration should be given by the judges to the facilities that a Branch/Ladies Auxiliary may have for producing a bulletin and you will note that only 20 points are allotted for appearance. A bulletin that is producedc on a duplicating may not have the appearance of a bulletin that has been printed by a printer but may contain better material and would be eligible for a greater number of points.

Bulletins and scrapbooks shall be judged on Branch/Ladies Auxiliary information (Reports or notices of Branch/Ladies Auxiliary activities, humour, special features, contributions, editorial comments, cover, front page or masthead) and impressiveness (printing layout, typography, pictures, illustrations, legibility, cartoons), etc.

SCRAPBOOK

Rules and Score Sheet:

The scrapbook should be of a reasonable size and contain current year material ONLY. A size comparable to a standard photo album is recommended. All Branches/Ladies Auxiliary. no matter what the membership may be, are eligible in this category.

Scrapbook contents are to be a photojournalistic chronicle of the Branch Ladies Au8xiliary activities and only for the current fiscal year.

All items included in the Scrapbook are to reflect only the activities of your own Branch/Ladies Auxiliary and not the Legion in general, unless it has a direct bearing on the activities being depicted.

All activities must be accompained by a headline. All photos must be accompanied by a cut line indicating first and last name, left to right and front to back.

When the program of a Branch/Ladies Auxiliary activity is inserted the complete program should be included, e.g. Remembrance Banquet Program, Charted Anniversary, Legion Week in Ontario Program, etc. Scrapbooks and propererly filled in/out "Entry" and "Judging Forms" are to be forwarded to the District Chairman to be judged by the chairman and his/her committee. The "Winning Scrapbook Only" from each District is to be forwarded to the Provincial Public Relations Chairman soonest following the District judging.
